Chase Plastics’ two-year-old central distribution center in South Bend, IN, is already undergoing a major expansion. The distributor of more than 20,000 types of thermoplastics will increase capacity by more than 60%, adding 80,000 square feet of storage for a total capacity of 206,000 square feet. Five additional loading docks and other improvements are also planned. The company broke ground on the expansion on June 18.
Product line growth and the desire to consistently provide “outrageous service” to its customers necessitated the $4 million expansion, said the company. “The investment enables greater stocking capacity and the ability to offer our customers value-added services including custom blending, box to bulk, material repackaging and later cut-off times, all focused on meeting customer material requirements in the dynamic markets where they compete,” said Mike Hall, Warehouse Manager.
The company currently employs 17 employees and anticipates adding another 10 to 12 positions once construction is completed. The expansion is expected to be finished in January 2020.
