0601pn-22.jpgColortronic's FPC wood-polymer composite blending system is designed to accommodate "virtually any processing method, material or product and to enable quick formulation changes on-line, in a very compact footprint," says Colortronic's President and CEO Rob Edwards. The system mounts on any type of extruder, Edwards adds.

Depending on application requirements (for example, pelletizing, single or co-extruded profile configurations and others), the blending system can comprise up to four gravimetric stations, each with the capability of handling up to eight ingredients. The modular design allows for optimal component configuration and interchange.

The primary blending station is designed to handle and control woodfiber/flour and other ligno-cellulosic materials, resin, regrind/recycle and other ingredients as needed. The secondary eight-ingredient loss-in-weight station is designed for applications requiring the downstream introduction of additives, for co-extrusion operations.

A range of feeder and agitator types is available. Centralized digital formulation control coordinates both blending stations and features recipe storage with optional profile weight-length extruder control.
