0801pn-41.jpgEngel is introducing its Marathon line of injection components to North America. The line, which includes screws, tips and non-return valves, are manufactured at the firm's Advanced Materials Laboratory in Steyr, Austria, and are available only on Engel injection molding machines.

Based on proprietary materials and processes, the components are said to provide an 'unparalleled' combination of abrasion and corrosion resistance, increased working temperature range to 830 F and increased life expectance by more than 100% compared to through-hardened products.

The company is targeting these components at processors who work with materials with filler content up to 70%; corrosive polymers such as PVC, C-PVC, ABS, acetals and all fluoropolymers; corrosive additives such as flame retardants and foaming agents and polymers that require high processing temperatures.

Other advantages cited for the Marathon technology include a 5 to 8% higher plasticizing rate, as compared to hardened steel screws, less required torque and faster color changes.
