We were very gratified by your response to our first Special Report on Injection Molding Metals & Ceramics, published in June. This second edition continues to explore the differences and the similarities to molding plastics, and much more. World leaders in the PIM and TXM fields have opened their factories to us, and you can read about them in this special report.

We continue to examine the latest news in materials, part design, tooling, and manufacturing technologies. As before, we point you to resources as you seek to explore these dynamic and fast growing technologies; those resources are listed in our contact information, and much additional information can be found elsewhere on our website. For a refresher, we’re repeating just a few of the basics.

The Acronyms

  • IMMC — injection molding metals and ceramics—the broad term.

  • PIM — powder injection molding, which applies to metal powders and ceramic powders.

  • CIM — ceramic powder injection molding.

  • MIM — metal powder injection molding.

  • TXM — molding of a thixotropic metal slurry (usually referred to as “Thixomolding” or “Thixomolded,” which are registered trademarks of Thixomat Inc.; TXM is our own acronym).

A full glossary of terms relating to injection molding metals and ceramics, as well as a list of industry resources, can be found on our website using these links.
