Polyplastics (Tokyo), a global supplier of engineering thermoplastics, and its subsidiary Topas Advanced Polymers GmbH, a manufacturer of cyclic olefin copolymers (COCs), will jointly showcase their latest materials technologies and products at K 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany, in October. The companies are exhibiting in hall 7A at stand B 02.
Under the theme of “Your Ideas. Our Material. Success Together,” Polyplastics said that it will take this opportunity at the international plastics exhibition to trumpet its standing as the world’s largest manufacturer of polyoxymethylene (POM). A specialist in engineering plastics, the company is supported by more than 50 years of material science and product development experience.

For automotive applications, Polyplastics announced that it will discuss the recent launch of Duracon POM grades for the production of injection molded automotive fuel system components. A new high-flow/high-rigidity POM grade has a melt flow rate around 14, making the material suitable for a range of molding conditions.
Other key highlights in POM development include a new grade that combines high strength with good creep and sliding properties.
Polyplastics also will focus on the latest development in Durafide PPS, Duranex PBT and Laperos LCP.
For electric vehicle applications, the company has developed Duranex PBT and Durafide PPS materials, which are targeted for engine peripheral parts such as power control units. They deliver high insulating properties and low water absorption, and meet harsh operating conditions from -40° to 150°C and up to 95% relative humidity.
Polyplastics said that it continues to see strong growth for its Topas COCs, which have a unique performance profile and continue to find strong appeal in the healthcare industry (drug delivery and blisters/trays) and diagnostics (POC/PCR/microfluidics). The company continues to work closely with OEMs and processors on new solutions to create next-generation products. The unique attributes of Topas COC—purity, drug compatibility, transparency, biocompatibility and dimensional stability—have resulted in the resin being adopted for demanding, high-performance products, including wearable drug-delivery devices.
