In addition to medical device manufacturers, the MDEA program honors suppliers and others who work behind the scenes to produce breakthrough medical products. Not surprisingly, a fair number of contract molders and plastics processors are among the finalists, including Phillips-Medisize (Hudson, MN), which partnered with Exact Sciences (Madison, WI) to develop a first-of-its-kind at-home cancer-screening test, and Polygon Co. (Walkerton, IN ) and Putnam Plastics (Dayville, CT), which contributed to the development of an incision-free uterine fibroid treatment system manufactured by Gynesonics (pictured).
