Matrix Plastic Products currently operates a total of 13 injection molding machines ranging from 5-300 tons. The company molds a variety of materials including PEEK, LCP, and resorbable materials. The new Engel vertical press is expected to be installed at Matrix in mid-August.
"We are involved in a growing number of medical projects that require overmolding of machined inserts, stampings and MIM components, all while adhering to tight tolerance requirements," said Andy Ziegenhorn, molding accounts manager at the processor. "While they don't all require a vertical molding press, adding this machine will certainly enhance our capabilities and offer increased efficiencies on projects like these, especially those requiring multiple components and operations."
Matrix has a Class 100,000 (Class 8) clean room with all-electric presses to serve its medical device customers. In addition to medical, Matrix serves customers in the electronics, military and consumer products industries. The company is certified to both ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2008.
Last November matrix acquired a 5-ton electric press for its class 100,000 cleanroom as well as a new 110-ton electric press, both from Toshiba.
Matrix Tooling Inc. and Matrix Plastic Products will be exhibiting at the MD&M (Medical Design & Manufacturing) trade show in Chicago, September 20-22 in Booth 2436.
