Materials supplier Americhem (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) has expanded its ColorRx line of precolored compounds for medical applications. The portfolio now includes PC/ABS and PC/polyester blends.
PA-2000RX (PC/ABS) and FRPCT1100RX (PC/polyester) have been tested by third parties to meet ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards and are UL listed as self-extinguishing. The PC/polyester material offers improved chemical resistance over standard grades of PC/ABS, according to Americhem, which provides fully supported testing for biocompatibility and chemical resistance. All ColorRx products are available globally.
"Our ColorRx products have been tested for biocompatibility compliance, meeting either USP Class VI or ISO 10993,” said Jim Figaniak, Vice President and General Manager, Americhem Engineered Compounds. “We also offer locked formulations and short lead times with no minimum order quantity. These services help mitigate material risks to medical manufacturers and speed up the product development process, allowing faster commercialization."
The company manufactures custom color masterbatch, functional additive, engineered compound and performance technologies. It operates 10 manufacturing plants and maintains sales offices around the world.
