Arburg 470A injection molding machine

Arburg demos turnkey system for medical applications at PLASTEC West

The company’s all-electric Allrounder 470 A equipped with a Multilift Select Cartesian robot will mold medical pump heads at a cycle time of approximately 25 seconds.

Turnkey systems for the production of plastic medical parts will be a focus at the Arburg booth at this year’s PLASTEC West show in Anaheim, CA. The maker of injection molding machinery, which has its global headquarters in Lossburg, Germany, will exhibit the popular, all-electric Allrounder 470 A equipped with a Multilift Select Cartesian robot at booth 3928. Arburg is also featuring its recently launched arburgXworld customer portal at the event, which is co-located with Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West at the Anaheim Convention Center from Feb. 11 to 13.

Boasting a 110-ton clamping force, the Allrounder 470 A will be equipped with eight-cavity tooling to mold pump heads weighing 1 gram. Ejectors demold the inner core of the component while the side cores are demolded as the mold opens. Cycle time is approximately 25 seconds. The Multilift robotic system removes the parts from the mold and transfers them to a tube system. The fully automated production of pump heads for medical applications demonstrates Arburg’s “expertise in turnkey solutions,” said Friedrich Kanz, Arburg Inc. Managing Director.

Launched in October 2019 at the K show, arburgXworld is the company’s foray into digital products and services. Available in 18 languages, the portal includes free as well as premium apps designed to provide customers with interactive technical support and simulations. Technicians will be on hand to show visitors the many features of the portal.

Arburg machines also will be running at the booths of partner companies Elkem and M.R. Mold & Engineering, both of which will showcase liquid silicone rubber applications.
