Nickel titanium, meet polyurethane. Two California-based contract manufacturers for the medical technology industry—one specialized in nickel-titanium instruments and the other focused on polymer catheter balloons—have joined forces. Nitinol Devices & Components Inc. (NDC; Fremont) announced this week that it has successfully completed the acquisition of Interface Catheter Solutions (Laguna Niguel). This convergence of the design, development and manufacture of metal- and plastic-based devices will be named, aptly, Confluent Medical Technologies.
