Davis-Standard will run medical-grade FEP tubing line at PLASTEC West

A global supplier of extrusion and converting technology headquartered in Pawcatuck, CT, Davis-Standard announced today that it will feature live demonstrations of its tight-tolerance medical tubing capabilities during the co-located PLASTEC West and MD&M West trade shows in Anaheim, CA, next month. The shows are part of North America’s largest annual design and manufacturing event happening at the Anaheim Convention Center from Feb. 7 to 9. Davis-Standard is exhibiting in booth 3939.

The medical tubing line on display will be extruding fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), which is used in many medical applications because of its lubricity and biocompatibility. The line will also feature Davis-Standard’s signature MEDD (Medical Extruder Direct Drive) extruder. The MEDD extruder utilizes direct-drive technology for more efficient operation as well as greater materials flexibility, a replaceable feed section liner, interchangeable barrel assembly and Windows PLC system.

Innovations throughout the plastics supply chain will be featured at PLASTEC West, which comes to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, on Feb. 7 to 9, 2017. For more information and to register to attend, go to the PLASTEC West website.

Medical tubing continues to be an area of significant growth for Davis-Standard, says the company, which has installed a medical lab line in a cleanroom environment at its headquarters. This line features two MEDD extruders and associated downstream equipment in a climate-controlled cleanroom environment. Customers are able to test new resins, make parts for proof-of-concept and conduct downstream R&D prior to making large capital equipment investments. The line is extremely versatile and set up to run multiple resins. It also incorporates Davis-Standard’s patented Alternate Polymer technology with all components monitored and controlled by the EPIC III control system.
