Bluestar Silicones (Lyon, France) is a well-known supplier of materials to medical device manufacturers, notably through its Silbione brand. But at the MD&M East and PLASTEC East events, what really caught our eye was this sorta creepy head designed for a wax musuem project. The company's expertise is often on display in movies, as well.

For especially resonant special effects, Bluestar will adjust the durometer of the material so that a body that is, say, falling from a building, will have a realistic bounce, or lack thereof, as it slams onto the pavement.

As for creatures destined to live, the company's Silbione materials are often specified for special effects prosthetics because of their biocompatiblity.
