Medline expands footprint in Texas; plans new manufacturing facility in Baja California

MedlineMedline (Northfield, IL), a global manufacturer and distributor serving the healthcare industry, announced last month the opening of a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Killam Industrial Park in Laredo, TX, expanding its Texas footprint to more than 1.5 million square feet.

The Laredo plant is one of four Medline facilities in North America that specializes in manufacturing custom surgical procedure trays that enable hospitals to optimize operating room inventory, improve efficiency and drive improved patient outcomes, said Medline’s announcement.

Medline currently has existing state-of-the-art distribution centers in Katy and Wilmer, TX.

In another announcement from the Economic Development Authority of the State of Baja California, Medline will invest $118 million to build a 600,000-square-foot production facility. The company purchased 24 hectares of land in the Desierto Industrial Park in Mexicali. According to the Economic Development Authority, this will be one of Medline’s largest operations in the world. The new facility is expected to generate more than 3,000 direct jobs.
