A global provider of plastic processing services to medical device manufacturers, MedPlast (Tempe, AZ) has announced that it is opening a 20,000-square-foot facility in Suzhou, China, for the production of medical components and assemblies.
The company plans to install 12 new electric Chen Hsong injection molding machines ranging from 50 to 200 tons along with new custom designed medical blowmolding systems. The facility will be certified to ISO 13485 and will be equipped to accommodate a cleanroom for future needs.
Medical products will be molded, assembled and packaged in the facility, and MedPlast also will provide full logistics and distribution. Because of confidentiality agreements, it cannot disclose the name of the customer.
The new facility aligns with MedPlast's growth strategy and adds critical capacity in a key region for its existing and new customers, the company said in a news release.
This new healthcare facility, which will be operational in the fourth quarter of this year, is MedPlast's fourth in China. Two of the current three facilities are dedicated to medical manufacturing and assembly.
MedPlast offers an array of services to medical customers, including injection and compression molding, blowmolding, moldmaking, silicone extrusion, assembly, packaging and sterilization at facilities in the United States, China, Mexico, and Europe.
