Spain’s Repsol introduces portfolio of healthcare-grade materials

Spanish oil company Repsol (Madrid) has launched a portfolio comprising 28 grades of polypropylene, polyethylene and EVA copolymers for healthcare applications.

The Repsol Healthcare brand is a new venture built on a foundation of existing strengths, said the company. These include:

  • Experience in manufacturing products under strict cleanliness and manipulation principles.

  • Expertise in food-contact packaging and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Production of propylene glycol, which is qualified for use as an excipient in pharmaceutical products.

Extension of the company’s Guarantee, Commitment and Service (GCS) package to this portfolio is a key feature of its materials supply services to the pharmaceutical packaging and medical device segments, as it allows adaptation of levels of risk through specific service packs, noted the company.

Repsol has been producing and selling polyolefins for more than 40 years. Three integrated production facilities are located in the Iberian peninsula, with pharmaceutical facilities at the Tarragona and Puertollano sites. A tech centre at the company’s headquarters in Madrid provides product development and technical services.
