Vention Medical, a contract manufacturer serving medical device OEMs by providing extrusion, injection molding, assembly, and packaging services at multiple facilities worldwide, has expanded its Catheter Center of Excellence in Minneapolis. The expansion doubles its footprint in the Twin Cities medical technology hub, according to the company.The move to a larger facility enhances Vention's capabilities as a strategic partner, the company said in a news release, by combining its expertise in manufacturing precision catheter components with technical support.

Vention Medical expands catheter manufacturing center of excellence

"Our new site is a one-stop shop," said Tom Testa, President of Vention's Advanced Components business. It will help local customers save costs and increase speed to market, he added.

The new site brings together manufacturing operations, technical support, and local engineering resources, and includes a 10,000-sq-ft controlled manufacturing environment for catheter component and device production. Vention engineers can work collaboratively with customers to design and develop catheters, subassemblies, and braided shafts.

Key competencies at the new site include:

• shaft braiding and lamination;
• on-site extrusion to support quick-turn shaft development;
• tipping, overmolding, and specialized catheter bonding;
• cleanroom farbrication of catheter subassemblies and finished devices in volumes ranging from prototype to full-scale production.
