Metal Detectors AreDesigned For Small Spaces,Webbed Materials

0301pn-8.jpgEriez Magnetics has two new products for metal separation/detection: the Model CMS metal separator for operations where vertical space is limited and the hand-held Metalarm Model HH-10 metal detector.

Compact metal separator, Model CMS, is designed to detect ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel metals in free-falling or gravity-fed materials that are dry and nonconductive. It is said to be capable of detecting a ferrous sphere as small as 1 mm.

Four sizes are available for 2-, 3-, 4- and 8-inch pipes. Units measure from 6-1/8 x 16-1/8 x 11-13/16 in. to 13-3/4 x 16-1/8 x 20-13/16 in. The size of these units is said to be ideal for areas where vertical spacing is restricted.

Unit consists of a metal detector, control and reject device packaged in a NEMA 12 enclosure. The reject mechanism, constructed from aluminum, consists of a solenoid, air filter, air regulator and water bleeder. Reject time is adjustable from 0.1 to 5 sec.

Mounting brackets are positioned on the corners of the enclosure. A stainless steel hopper that mounts on top of the system is optional. Prices range from $4100 to $8700.

Unit has a 'plug-and-go' design to ensure consistent voltages and optimal sensitivity, unlike battery-operated units, which Eriez says lose sensitivity over time. It activates audio and visual alarms when metal is detected. Price is $951.
