Metallocene polyethylene line expanded

Article-Metallocene polyethylene line expanded

Sustainability enhancement through downgauging and "outstanding processability" across a range of applications and extrusion equipment are among the benefits listed for a new metallocene polyethylene (mPE) grade. Enable mPE 35-05 from ExxonMobil Chemical targets tough, stiff, high-clarity films, with processing possible on both linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film-line equipment.

targets tough, stiff, high-clarity films, with processing possible on both linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film-line equipment. Processing and shrink properties approach LDPE, according to ExxonMobil Chemical, with the latest Enable mirroring mechanical properties of higher alpha-olefin (HAO) resins of similar density. The company says Enable mPE 35-05 resin delivers improved processing as a result of its lower melt temperature, which in turn promotes greater bubble stability with lower energy consumption compared to fractional melt index LLDPEs. Long chain branching reportedly contributes to excellent shear-thinning characteristics that can deliver higher extrusion rates.

The company says Enable mPE 35-05 resin broadens its metallocene portfolio into the medium density product space and opens up new product opportunities. Applications that could benefit include shrink film, overwrap film, laminates, and stand-up pouch materials, as well as medium and heavy duty bags, and other high performance films.
