Mountain Molding acquisition expands scope of Tenere's injection molding services

Tenere Inc. (Dresser, WI), a full-service provider of complex metal and plastic components and assemblies, announced the acquisition of Mountain Molding LLC (Longmont, CO), a custom injection molding company founded in 1976. The acquisition broadens Tenere's plastics offering, and enhances its services and capabilities that allow customers to go from product design and prototyping to production quickly and seamlessly, said Tenere's information.

"We're proud to welcome Mountain Molding to the Tenere family," stated Greg Adams, Tenere CEO. "Mountain Molding shares our commitment to providing the highest level of service and product quality to customers. By combining forces, we look forward to offering all customers greater flexibility and an enhanced menu of capabilities to better meet their needs at any stage of the product life cycle."

Adams joined the company about two years ago to assume the position of CEO after a 15-year career with Nypro, most recently as its CFO. Tenere is headquartered in Dresser, WI, and also has manufacturing facilities in Osceola and Somerset, WI.

Tenere, which was acquired by Watermill Group in 2012, makes advanced, customized components using sheet metal fabrication and injection molding. Prototyping using Objet Connex 3 FDM, SLA and laser sintering processes is available at its Protogenic rapid prototyping division in Westminster, CO. The company serves OEMs in the network communications, agriculture, medical and aerospace industries.

Tom Hennings, General Manager of Tenere's plastics division in Lakewood, CO, told PlasticsToday that Tenere's injection molding division currently operates 18 molding machines. That number includes seven new electric Robotshot machines and four all-electric Toshiba presses. With the addition of Mountain Molding's 17 injection molding presses, the company has a total of 35 presses ranging from 20 to 720 tons, both vertical and horizontal.

"We provide full-service capabilities, including moldmaking, in both Longmont and Lakewood," said Hennings."We also provide prototype parts as well as direct manufacturing of silicone and urethane molds and some printed mold inserts at Protogenic, as well as fast-turn aluminum tooling."

With the addition of Mountain Molding, both the capacity and capability of Tenere's injection molding scope has greatly expanded. "We're really looking to expand and grow the market here in Colorado, as we provide the ability to take components from design and rapid prototyping clear through to production to help customers get to market faster," Hennings said. "We're very excited about the Mountain Molding acquisition. They are a very talented, dedicated group of people who are customer focused and engineering centric, and in that respect there is a lot of synergy between the two companies."

Mountain Molding President Don Cheyne agrees. "We see strong synergies with the team at Tenere and believe this combination will greatly benefit all our customers. The greater depth of resources and experience available with our partner will allow us to enhance and expand the services we offer."
