Custom compounder A. Schulman Inc. (Akron, OH) has appointed Dennis Smith to the newly created position of director of new business applications. In the new role, Smith will report to A. Schulman’s Chief Marketing Officer, Paul Boulier, and continue to lead the development of the company’s Invision sheet resins business, as well as seek out growth opportunities in new businesses and applications like rotomolding.

Smith has been director of technology and general manager for the Invision sheet business since 2005; he began his career at A. Schulman in 1984 as a product development technician. Winning a patent in 2002 for a thermoplastic elastomer ionomer composition, Smith graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing technology.

C.A. Picard International, a manufacturer of replacement elements, barrels, and shafts for co-rotating twin-screw extruders, has named new representatives in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. The company has appointed David King of Accuplast Inc. to handle Canada; Jose Maria Rebollo Lang for Mexico, and Scott Whalen of Compounding Parts to represent the company in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Specialty chemical and additive supplier Struktol Co. of America (Stow, OH) has promoted Paul Danilowicz to director of sales and marketing. Danilowicz, who has been at Struktol’s Stow, OH facility since it opened more than 30 years ago, has served in rubber technical sales, and most recently filled the dual positions of product manager for rubber and technical sales manager.
