James Rogers, president of Eastman Chemical Co. (Kingsport, TN) and head of the supplier’s chemicals and fibers business group, will be promoted to president and CEO, effective following the company’s annual meeting of stockholders on May 7, 2009. Rogers has been at Eastman since 1999.
Brian Ferguson, who has been chairman and CEO since 2002, will continue to hold these positions through the 2009 annual meeting of stockholders, and then will serve as executive chairman of the board through 2010. Eastman is best known in the plastics industry as a supplier of PET, copolyester, adhesives, and coatings.
Compound supplier Teknor Apex Co. has appointed Barry Galpin as business development manager for the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) division, working at the firm’s Teknor Apex UK subsidiary. He is responsible for TPE marketing and will oversea sales activity through the network of distributors representing the company’s TPE compounds in Europe. He replaces Nick Sandland, who has assumed a new position with the division in the U.S. Galpin comes to Teknor Apex from Hutchinson Worldwide’s Paulstra Division, a manufacturer of anti-vibration, acoustic, insulation, and sealing systems for transportation markets.
Travis Wiens has been named the new VP sales for Silon Compounds Ltd., responsible for sales and technical support. He is based in Langley, BC. Silon is a supplier of cross-linked polyethylene compounds with production facilities in Canada, the Czech Republic, and China.
Automation end-of-arm tooling and connectivity supplier Applied Robotics Inc. (Glenville, NY) has named Jim Crowder as an applications engineer. Crowder comes to Applied Robotics from Precision Valve & Automation (Halfmoon, NY), where he worked as a product manager.
