The board of directors at custom profile extruder Intek Plastics (Hastings, MN) has appointed Mike Kinning as president and Steve Glienke as chief operating officer.  John Penn, chairman of the board and acting CEO, explained, "I have never seen two senior leaders work together as well as they do. That's why I recommended this co-leadership model to the board." Penn will vacate his role as CEO and continue to serve as chairman of the board for Intek.

Names in the News; Intek, Assocomoplast, Davis-Standard, BMCI

(Hastings, MN) has appointed Mike Kinning as president and Steve Glienke as chief operating officer.  John Penn, chairman of the board and acting CEO, explained, "I have never seen two senior leaders work together as well as they do. That's why I recommended this co-leadership model to the board." Penn will vacate his role as CEO and continue to serve as chairman of the board for Intek. 

Kinning started at Intek in 1991 as a sales engineer, and went on to serve the company as business manager, manufacturing manager, and vice president of sales and marketing. In 2009, he was named vice president and general manager. Glienke, a CPA, joined Intek in 2003 as a controller and became the company's chief financial officer in September 2004. Prior to joining Intek, he was the controller and logistics manager for Satellite Industries, Inc., and the general manager of a local construction supply company.

The general assembly of Assocomaplast, the Italian trade association, representing about 160 of the country's leading manufacturers of plastics and rubber processing machinery, equipment and moldmakers, has appointed a new chairman. Giorgio Colombo, general manager of Icma San Giorgio spa, a manufacturer of extrusion lines, was named the new chairman, with Alessandro Grassi, general sales manager of Frigosystem srl the Association's vice-chairman. Frigosystem is a manufacturer of chillers and thermoregulators.

Mario Maggiani was nominated as Assocomaplast secretary general, replacing Claudio Celata, who keeps the office of general manager of the commercial company Promaplast srl and takes on the appointment as the chairman's office coordinator.

Extrusion systems machinery manufacturer Davis-Standard LLC has named Doug Comeau (Pawcatuck, CT) as its new foam product manager. Comeau joins Davis-Standard with more than 37 years of experience at Gloucester Engineering, where he most recently was product manager for that company's Sheet, Cast Film, Extrusion

Bulk Molding Compounds Inc. (BMCI; West Chicago, IL) announced Cedric Ball would be its global market development director, a new position at the company. Ball will work with the company's brands, market trends and BMC product applications within the fields of energy generation and mining. Ball's background includes time spent with both Ashland Performance Materials and Owens Corning. His most recent position at Ashland was as marketing projects leader, with a focus on wind energy in the Americas.
