Kelly Ordonio joins LFT firm PlastiComp

PlastiComp LLC (Winona, MN), a supplier of long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (LFT) compounds and developer of processing technology for direct long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (D-LFT) technology, has hired Kelly Ordonio as its application development manager. She is responsible for project management of new applications at existing customers, prospecting for new customers, and conducting field marketing activities.

Ordonio’s background includes experience in business development and quality engineering with Ticona Engineering Polymers, GE Plastics, and Amoco Polymers. Ordonio will be based in Dublin, OH.

Personnel appointments and changes

Additives supplier Biosafe  (Pittsburgh, PA) is making the transition from developmental phase to commercialization and one change has been the appointment of Max Fedor to the position of president and CEO. He succeeds Gerry Getman, who is now VP of Research and Development.  Fedor is tasked to lead the commercialization of the company’s Biosafe HM4100, an antimicrobial additive based on polymeric silane quat.

Fedor had been an executive-in-residence at the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG), a funding organization for life sciences companies, and an investor in Biosafe. He has more than 25 years of experience in bringing new technologies to commercialization, primarily involving polymer products and components in the fields of medical devices and biotechnology.

Tiny loadings of Biosafe HM4100, ranging from 0.1-1.0%, are sufficient to keep product surfaces clean and protected from the staining and degradation caused by bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungi. Because of the covalent bond between Biosafe and the polymer in a plastic or textile, this efficacy is ongoing for the useful life of the product.

Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd. (CGI), a supplier of gas-assisted molding technology, has appointed Kevin Brady as its new sales manager to lead the company’s activities in North America, covering the recruitment and training of sales agents across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

“My role will center on creating a strong sales team who will introduce customers to the weight, material, and cycle time reductions that can be achieved with Cinpres technology,” commented Brady in a statement. Brady has served six years on the executive board for the Alliance of Plastics Processors (APP) and has been active in trade association activities for the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI). He was honored with the APP Industry Recognition Award at the NPE2009 tradeshow last month in Chicago.

Brady will operate from the company’s offices in Whitmore Lake, Michigan.

New to sheet supplier Sheffield Plastics, a Bayer MaterialScience LLC Business, is David D'Anna, who joins the company to serve as its territory sales manager for the company's North Atlantic territory. He will work with Sheffield's distributors to develop business in New England, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and portions of Pennsylvania.

He joins the company after more than 12 years of experience in plastics sales, primarily with Co-ex Corporation, a competing processor of polycarbonate sheet products used in the building and construction industry.

Custom sheet and rollstock extruder Premier Material Concepts (PMC; Findlay, OH) announced that Roger Jean has been appointed its VP of custom sales & technology. He brings more than 10 years of sales and market development experience in the plastics resins and thermoforming markets, most recently as senior market development manager at Lyondellbasell Advanced Polyolefins USA.
