) of Albany, NY, has collaborated with liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding firm, Lee & Lee Hi-Tech Co., to develop light-emitting diode (LED) lens parts for flat-panel liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, using its Silopren LSR 7000 Series.

The LSR 7000 Series is a family of transparent liquid silicone rubbers that provides clarity and is efficient and economical to process. LRS 7000 Series materials have the ability to create complex optical components that can surpass those made with traditional thermoplastic materials or even glass, according to Momentive. This means the LSR 7000 Series can be considered for applications where enhanced optical transparency is needed and potential stress cracking of thermoplastics is a concern.

Momentive also collaborated with customer Kothis, a technology specialist for textile printing applications, to develop high performance football gloves that provide optimal grip. These gloves are used in American football to create traction, making it easier to catch and hold on to the ball, especially in cold or wet playing conditions.
