New focus on fibers at Swiss masterbatch specialist Sukano

As the fiber business at Sukano, a masterbatch producer headquartered in Schindellegi, Switzerland, continues to expand, the company's portfolio of functional products that enhance the performance, comfort and look of textiles has broadened considerably. Underlining the importance of this development, Sukano has now taken the strategic decision to create a dedicated Sukano Fibers Team composed of the three highly experienced fiber experts Maria Toscan, Ramon Rovira and Robertor Parenzan. The first two will support customers in all sales, service and project matters and in their role of Business Development Manager, are tasked with growing Sukano's textile business. Roberto Parenzan has been made Product Development Leader Textiles & Fibers, and will focus on the technical management of fibers projects and new product developments.

Or as Michael de Braaf, CEO of Sukano AG phrased it: "The new Sukano Fibers Expert Team is part of our mission towards even more customer focus and service." He added: "Our high quality additives and masterbatches help fiber and textile fabric manufacturers bring optimum performance, comfort and appearance into their products. We are dedicated to making them even more successful with Sukano solutions meeting all of their quality and service requirements."

Polymer fibers are continuous filaments, often spun into ropes or woven into textiles. Polymer fibers are produced via an extrusion process and often the raw material used is PET or some other polyester. The advantages of polymer fibers over natural fibers include higher strength, resistance to moisture and chemicals and less prone to wrinkles.

The Sukano product portfolio for fibers applications contains a dedicated range of masterbatch products to improve the functionality and appearance of fiber products in various ways. Examples are the company's high performance UV masterbatches that improve weatherability, and the ultra durable antimicrobial masterbatches for long-lasting freshness and odor control.
