Making its third machinery order in the last 12 months, film manufacturer Next Generation Films (Lexington, OH) has ordered an additional 3-layer Varex coextrusion line from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corp. (W&H; Lincoln, RI) as it waits for delivery of a previously ordered Varex. The latest machine will be the sixth for Next Generation from W&H (MPW visited Next Generation in August 2009).

Next Generation orders third Varex from W&H in the last year

Both of the high-output Varex lines have grooved feed extruders (105.30/135.30/105.30D), a 35-inch Optifil P2 die, and Filmatic T dual-turret winders. These lines will add more than 50 million lb of capacity per year, all of which has been presold for the production of custom films, according to Next Generation.

Founded in 1994, Next Generation supplies specialty films for food packaging, automobile, courier, manufactured housing, and protective packaging. The company now operates 24 film-extrusion lines. Next Generation generated $100 million in sales in 2009, and company founder, Dave Frecka has a stated goal of doubling that figure within the next five years. —[email protected]
