Novolex purchases Wisconsin Film & Bag

Novolex (Hartsville, SC), a North American plastic sheet and bag manufacturer, recently acquired Wisconsin Film & Bag (Shawano, WI), a manufacturer of custom polyethylene bags and films. The Company has a converting plant and a plastics recycling plant near Shawano and employs approximately 175 workers.

Wisconsin Film & Bag's 60,000-square-foot facility.
“We are excited about the addition of WF&B to the Novolex family,” Stan Bikulege, Chairman and CEO of Novolex said in a statement.  “This is important to us because it will further enhance our high quality packaging choices for customers while advancing our position as the industry leader in sustainability.  It’s a great fit for Novolex and we will look forward to integrating the Shawano Team with our successful Novolex Custom Film & Bag brand. Our focus is to continue to invest in our business and supply our customers with world class paper and plastic packaging products.”

A manufacturer of can liners, WF&B was founded in 1972 and has experienced continuous growth over the last 40 years with expansion projects increasing the square footage at it’s Shawano plant from 20,000 to 60,000-square-feet which currently has the capacity to produce over 45 million pounds annually. The Company also has strong expertise in the recovery and recycling of post- industrial and postconsumer plastics packaging.

This is Novolex’s fourth acquisition since private equity investment firm Wind Point Partners (Chicago, IL) acquired Novolex (formerly Hilex Poly) in 2012, in partnership with Chairman and CEO Stan Bikulege.

Previous Novolex acquisitions include Packaging Dynamics (Chicago, IL), Duro Bag (Elizabeth, NJ) and a portion of Clondalkin Group’s North American Flexible Packaging Division (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).  With the addition of WF&B, Novolex is now a $2.0 billion revenue company with over 5,200 employees and 37 manufacturing locations in North America, including two world-class recycling facilities.
