Orbis Corp. talks Mexico expansion

Article-Orbis Corp. talks Mexico expansion

Chicago — Reusable packaging provider Orbis Corp. plans to open a new manufacturing plant in Silao, located in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. Official construction has begun, with plans to complete the facility by the end of the year. Silao is 390 km/250 miles northwest of Mexico City. "Mexico is a growing market from industrial manufacturing to automotive - the use of reusable packaging is in high demand," Norman Kukuk, vice president of marketing for Orbis, told PlasticsToday at Pack Expo in booth #6700.

This expansion in Mexico enables Orbis to be more responsive with customers in this geographic area, with local manufacturing, expertise, resources and capabilities, while improving its service reach throughout Latin America.

This move also will allow the company's U.S. facilities to focus on its local markets whereas this new Mexico plant will help bring new capacity to its growing customer base in the country.

Orbis has approximately 40 sales, service and manufacturing locations in North American, Europe and Asia and 1,600 employees worldwide.
