Ordinary piping adapted for resin-conveying use

Molders can create a vacuum-air-operated conveying system for a fraction of the price paid for blower-air-operated conveyors, using ordinary piping. Called the Threaded Line Vac, the unit is an aluminum coupler that is integrated with standard PVC piping and generates a vacuum within the conveying system. In operation, it ejects a small amount of compressed air on one end with high output flows on the other. According to the manufacturer, response is instantaneous and regulating the compressed air pressure provides infinite control of the conveying rate. The Threaded Line Vacs are available in eight sizes, ranging in diameter from 3/4 to 4 inches. Kits for the most commonly used size for injection molding, the 1 1/4-inch pipe, start at $219. Kits include a Threaded Line Vac, mounting bracket, filter separator, and pressure regulator.
