Pacific Rim Traders engages resin distributor Nexus Resin Group

"Currently, we're serving the primarily the Western one-third of North America with our PET products," comments Dale Behm, managing director for PRT. "Bringing on Nexus as a distributor will help us reach more customers throughout North and South America with our three grades of PET resin, including our water bottle grade, CSD grade, and hot fill grade, as PRT becomes a national and international supplier."

PRT has an established logistics network with the ability to oversee the complete supply chain for its customers, and provide innovative solutions for the ever-changing global market. PRT sells and warehouses all three of Dragon's PET grades: bottle grade 80IV; a heat-set grade for faster cycles; and CSD 86-86 IV for use in bottles that withstand higher pressures. The company sells primarily to customers that require the bottle grade resins for the production of bottles which are then shipped to the fill plants.

"We provide top-notch service and in addition bring technical knowledge," Behm said. He is listed on 22 PET patents and has 30 years of extensive technical experience in PET research and development with leading packaging companies including Continental Can Corp. and Johnson Controls Inc. "Certain technology advancements are currently under development at Dragon for an additive called 'ECO-HEAT' that allows the converter to dose at the injection machine for fast re-heat resin."

Pacific Rim is a full value added supplier with extensive technical support. "PET is our business," Behm said. "We have helped many companies overcome manufacturing issues on their production floor utilizing our technical support."

Ryan Keating, president of Nexus Resin Group headquartered in Mystic, CT, commented, "We are very excited to be entering into this distribution arrangement with Pacific Rim Traders. We did not have any previous distribution agreements for PET resins and realize PET is a growth market. The exclusive arrangement with PRT compliments the markets we already serve, including a number of companies in the bottle and sheet markets."

Nexus Resin Group currently distributes polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and engineering resins. The company sells to more than 700 customers and has a sales force that covers North America, with a sales and marketing office in Houston, TX.  "We're very selective in the resins we represent in our distribution network, and choose only the best," said Keating.  "The quality of the Dragon resin and technical service from Pacific Rim Traders is outstanding, and we're looking forward to the relationship."

Both Keating and Behm agree that the cultures of both companies fit well together.
