The winners of the 2016 AWA Sleeve Label Awards competition, organized by AWA  Alexander Watson Associates, were announced at the AWA International Sleeve Label Conference and Exhibition 2016 held in Denver, CO. The competition rewards excellence in sleeve labeling and product decoration.The expert judging panel was chaired by Yolanda Simonsis, President & Editorial Director, YTC Media Inc., and included Dr. Seamus Lafferty, President, Accraply Inc.; Tom Hammer, Product Manager North America, Flint Group Narrow Web; and Will Schertzman, Vice President, Packaging, Verst Group Logistics. The awards were presented by AWA President and CEO Corey Reardon.2016 AWA Sleeve Label Awards: Best Sleeve LabelThe award for Best Sleeve Label went to McDowell Label (Plano, TX) for its “Mad Hot Tingle Bronzer,” an indoor tanning bottle by JWOWW. McDowell stole the show with a label described by the judges as “amazing, classy and adventurous from the word go. The label is just JWOWW!” McDowell Label used a variety of technologies, including effective use of tactile elements and foil, to deliver exceptional shelf appeal.

Until she retired in September 2021, Clare Goldsberry reported on the plastics industry for more than 30 years. In addition to the 10,000+ articles she has written, by her own estimation, she is the author of several books, including The Business of Injection Molding: How to succeed as a custom molder and Purchasing Injection Molds: A buyers guide. Goldsberry is a member of the Plastics Pioneers Association. She reflected on her long career in "Time to Say Good-Bye."
