Award-winning designs in sleeve labels

  • AWA sleeve awards 2019 1 Heat Shrink TD Sleeves Peachtree

Shrink sleeves are on a roll as are one of the fastest emerging segments in the label industry, with one report projecting a CAGR of 6.5% for the period 2017-2023. Growth is credited to the format’s benefits of design flexibility to stand out from competitors.

It’s exactly these qualities along with technical innovation that served as the basis for the fifth annual Amsterdam-based AWA Alexander Watson Associates’ International Sleeve Label Awards, which rewards quality and originality in the design, production, and end-use of all types of sleeve labels. This year’s winners once again confirmed how innovative and technically-superb today's sleeve labels are.

The expert judging panel consisted of Séamus Lafferty, President, Accraply; Pär Olsson, Technical Manager, Nordic and Baltic Narrow Web with Flint Group; and AWA consultant Dr William Llewellyn.   The winners were selected from among a record number of entrants representing an even broader global reach than previous years. Winners received awards at a ceremony during the AWA International Sleeve Label Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam held in early April.

Printed UV flexo on 50-micron PET, spot varnished, and inside-printed with cold foil, the sleeves were perfectly applied to the full length of the bottle and represent a fine example of quality product branding.

Rogier Rubens, Reynders Etiketten, and Babette Ruijten, Global Brand Manager, De Kuyper Royal Distillers, were present at the conference, and jointly collected their award.
