PET bottle manufacturer Petainer (Chicago) has launched a new water-cooler bottle to challenge traditional polycarbonate and PET coolers. The petainerCooler is a fully recyclable, reusable water cooler with exceptional durability, strength and high scuff-resistance and outperforms other PET water cooler bottles in drop tests, according to the company.
The cooler is compatible with existing filling equipment and washing lines, avoiding any capital investment required to switch to the product.
In addition to being bisphenol-A(BPA)-free, petainerCooler is shrink-resistant to more than 40 washing cycles at 145°F while standard PET can only withstand 15 wash cycles at 145°F.
It is available in a handled and non-handled options.
Thanks to the two-stage, blown-from-preform process that can be done at a customer plant where the container can be filled, petainerCooler offers supply chain benefits that can reduce logistics costs by up to 90%. PET is widely recyclable versus specialized facilities required to recycle polycarbonate.

The Petainer water coolers are blow-molded and shipped directly from an ISO 9001-certified facility in Modesto, CA.
An early adopter, bottled cooler water brand Artesia Springs (San Antonio), is servicing 40% of Texas with bulk water using the new petainerCooler.
“In terms of what’s out in the market today, the Petainer water bottle is second-to-none in durability as compared to other bottles,” states Rudy Ramon, founder and CEO of Artesia Springs. “The strength of the bottle allows us to get more turns than a normal PET bottle. The service has been great and the value that we can now provide to our customers using the Petainer bottles is fantastic.”
