Persistent rain could not dampen the spirits of the many thousands attending Pack Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago this week where aisles, booths, and concourses were packed with packaging professionals and enthusiasts.

More importantly, the several thousands of exhibitors offered a bounty of breakthroughs in plastic and packaging developments. We’ve selected seven exemplary finds in this slideshow from a first-of-a-kind biopolymer pouch to new barrier bottle options in the US. We start with a clever source-reducing plastic cap where resealability was just one of its packaging-driven superpowers.
