Trexel (Wilmington, MA), the worldwide leader in foaming solutions, will feature the first live demonstration of its MuCell P-Series for thin-wall packaging in Europe at K 2019. It also will highlight an expanded range of TecoCell chemical foaming agents and its new MuCell Tip Dosing Module at the trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Oct. 16 to 24.
Well established in the automotive, technical and consumer markets, Trexel has adapted the MuCell gas-dosing process to meet the demanding requirements of fast-cycling thin-wall packaging. For the first time ever, the packaging market is able to exceed the limits imposed by conventional injection molding, said the company.
The MuCell P-Series enables lower part weights, increased L/T, reduced clamp tonnage and lower injection pressures. The P-Series will be in operation at the BMB S.p.A. booth (A 33 in hall 13) molding 500-gram margarine tubs. Partners in the in-mold labeling cell include StackTeck, Machines Pages, Verstraete and Borealis.
Trexel has added the TecoCell line of advanced chemical foaming products to complement MuCell, the industry standard for physical foaming. The company supports both products with more than 20 years of expertise in foam injection. TecoCell’s patented eco-friendly chemistry outperforms traditional foaming agents, said Trexel. Through the use of nano-sized CaCO3 particles, TecoCell reportedly produces the smallest cell size and highest quality surface appearance achievable through chemical agents. An expanded range of TecoCell products will be showcased at K 2019.
MuCell’s Tip Dosing Module (TDM) is designed to be gentle on fiber-filled resins. It provides greater output and requires less space compared with traditional MuCell screw designs. The smaller footprint allows for the option to bolt the TDM onto an existing barrel in place of the endcap to easily upgrade an existing injection molding machine with MuCell.
