Clear Lam Packaging Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL) and Triangle Package Machinery Co. (Chicago) have announced a new North American equipment manufacturing licensing agreement for the PrimaPak program. The deal allows Triangle to manufacture and supply the proprietary PrimaPak System Interface on its Model XYT15 Vertical-Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) Bagging Machine. This is Clear Lam’s second equipment licensing agreement for the innovative PrimaPak technology, which produces a six-sided package with a reclosable feature made from a single roll of flexible film. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Technically advanced and operator friendly, the new Triangle PrimaPak VFFS Bagging Machine is suitable for food and consumer packaged goods products and is available in continuous motion, so it can perform at faster operating speeds up to 100 bags per minute, depending on the package size. Applications for the PrimaPak technology include confectionery and snack products, cereal, coffee, detergent pods, pet food, cheese and produce.

PrimaPak is the first of its kind, flexible, stackable, reclosable package produced from a single roll of film on a Vertical FFS machine. Designed as a replacement for preformed trays, platters, jars or stand-up pouches, the PrimaPak technology can help processors and retailers achieve measurable cost savings and sustainability improvements throughout the supply chain. The packaging retains its shape even when empty, giving it greater merchandising as opposed to stand-up pouches and similar packaging that may fall over on the shelves. In addition, because it is produced from flexible rollstock, the PrimaPak package uses up to 70% less plastic compared to Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) cans, bottles, jars or trays.
