With more than 300 industry leaders in attendance, the competition, which is the longest running in North America, chose winners based on industry peer recognition for excellence in all aspects of packaging, including branding and graphic design, technical aspects and sustainability.
The major provider of rigid packaging and components landed the gold award for its Drink Blocks’ packaging which launched back in 2014. The 8-oz bottles are extrusion blow molded of recyclable BPA-free high-density polyethylene by Axium. Aptar Group makes the 38-mm flip-top locking closure and the bottles are sealed with an induction seal beneath the closure.
Also, in the same category was 3M’s Patch Plus Primer 4-in-1 package designed by TricorBraun which took home silver. The distinctive packaged product contains all that homeowners need to prep their walls prior to painting, with spackle, primer, a putty knife and sandpaper within a single package.
The end of this modified tottle is molded into a sturdy 1-in. plastic putty knife and a red double-wall closure incorporates a sandpaper disk on its top. The tottle holds and dispenses the patch and primer, bringing products and applicators together in one convenient hand-held product.
This package was also a Best of Show winner in the National Association of Container Distributors (NACD) Packaging Awards competition announced earlier this month.
