Plastic packaging from five US organizations was spotlighted in the 2022 global WorldStar Award competition, organized by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

The five winners — which comprise a recyclable valve for food packaging, secondary packaging for prefilled syringes, a one-piece industrial tote, an environmentally friendly bag-in-box pouch, and an ergonomic super-glue pack — took home six awards in all.

Started in 1970, the WorldStar competition recognizes excellence in packaging design worldwide. The awards honor packaging solutions developed to address emerging challenges and global trends, such as sustainability and hygiene.

Among the 240 winners in this year’s competition, a total of 10 awards went to US businesses. To qualify, WorldStar entries have previously earned awards in their home country. The WorldStar award ceremony took place in May 2022 in Milan, Italy.
