Pacific Shaving Company (San Francisco) is looking to change the packaging face of the shaving cream aisle to pouched pods from cans and tubes. New Single-Use Shaving Cream Minis deliver shaving cream in a pod that dissolves with water in a consumer's palm to provide a moisturizing lather. The product is available at Target stores nationwide in stand-up pouches.
Representing what is claimed by the brand owner to be the first truly innovative product in the shave preparation category since shaving gel was introduced in the 1970s, the Minis deliver an exact amount of shaving cream in a convenient form ideal for everyday use and for travel.
“There has been a great deal of innovation and disruption happening in shaving for razors and blades—but not much for shaving creams and aftershaves,” says Stan Ades, Pacific Shaving co-founder. “We strive to develop innovative and effective shaving care products for men and women, and Single-Use Shaving Cream Minis fit perfectly with that goal.”
The stand-up pouch is manufactured by Excel Packaging (Irvine, CA).
Pacific Shaving Co. partnered with MonoSol, LLC (Merrillville, IN), a provider of water-soluble films for products in including unit-dose laundry and automatic dishwasher detergents, to develop the Minis pods. MonoSol is a division of Kuraray America Inc. (Houston, TX).

The food grade, water-soluble film improves convenience by delivering shaving cream in easy-to-use, premeasured pouches that release their contents when exposed to water.
