Plasma treatment equipment manufacturer Plasmatreat held a full-day open house and conference in June to celebrate the opening of its new office and technical center in the United States. Located in Elgin, IL, the new center includes an R&D lab to let customers carry out trials and test series using the company's OpenAir plasma treatment equipment.

PlasmaTreat's equipment allows for treatment to be completed at ambient conditions, without the need for a special vacuum container. MPW reported extensively on the technology in our article here. Plasmatreat is headquartered in Steinhagen, Germany. The new 5000-ft2 facility in Elgin is operated by the company's VP sales, Nicholas Rollick, and business development managers Jeff Leighty and Luke Diana.

The open house and conference drew about 80 visitors, with presentations made by executives from Ford Motor Corp., Cascade Engineering, the Bobst Group, Sonderhoff USA, and others.

According to Plasmatreat, its Openair atmospheric-pressure plasma technology is more economically efficient than low-pressure methods as it can be carried out without a costly low-pressure chamber and also offers others benefits. [email protected]
