CPI calls for papers for PUR tech conference

The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI), part of the American Chemistry Council, has issued a call for papers and posters to be presented at the Polyurethanes 2009 Technical Conference on October 5-7, 2009, at the Gaylord National hotel in Fort Washington, MD. Technical paper abstracts are due March 2, 2009.  To be included in the conference advance program, poster abstracts must be submitted by April 1, 2009.  Submission instructions, paper guidelines and templates can be found on CPI’s website.

Plastics Injection Molding 2009 approaching

The Southern Germany Plastics Center (SKZ; Wuerzburg) is venturing to the Radisson SAS hotel in Dubai to hold its Plastics Injection Molding 2009 conference, designed to help processors in that region learn more about best practices for cost-effective injection molding. Thermoset Conference keynote speeches announced

Officials are preparing for the upcoming Society of Plastics Engineers' Thermoset Topical Conference in New Orleans, LA. The first day of the conference will include a keynote address, “State of the Composites Industry,” delivered by John Busel, director of the Composites Growth Initiative of the American Composites Manufacturers Association.  Day two's keynote address will be delivered by Michael Fitzpatrick, CEO of Citadel Plastics Holdings Inc., with the title  "Navigating the Trough: Managing Risk And The Dynamics of Change." 

Session topics at the event include thermoset opportunities in composite housing, bridges, storage vessels, airflow and fuel cells.  Issues such as die cast vs. thermoset, rapid prototyping using BMC, snap fit phenolics and post-industrial recycle programs also will be discussed.
