Plastics Color Corp. expands, strengthens liquid color presence with Polysource purchase

Color concentrates, compounds and additive masterbatches supplier PCC (Plastics Color Corp.) announced its acquisition of Polysource LLC and its Pinnacle Color subsidiary, a color and additives manufacturer and distributor located in Tempe, Arizona. The purchase expands PCC's distribution footprint in North America, including Mexico, and provides it with supply of liquid color concentrates made in North America.

PCC is based in Calumet City, IL and has significant production assets in the U.S., but its liquid color concentrates are manufactured and distributed through its Nanjing, China facility. "The purchase of Polysource gives PCC an established position in the North American liquid color market as well as a new distribution channel for both existing and new products," stated Plastics Color's president Doug Borgsdorf.

Polysource was founded in 1998 by Craig Degnaro, a 30-year veteran of the liquid plastics business. He will be retained as the manager of the new business unit. According to Degnaro, "Polysource had been looking for a business partner that would help us grow our operations. The acquisition by PCC provides access to a wider range of products, increased manufacturing capabilities and a larger sales force." PCC operates manufacturing facilities and product development labs in Illinois, North Carolina, California and China.

The purchase gives PCC an immediate entry into Mexico's plastics compounding and processing market through Polysource's distributor relationships. According to PCC's VP of business development Tim Workman, "We've been active in the Latin American market for some time. The purchase of Polysource gives us an increased presence in Mexico, Central and South America, all consistent with PCC's growth objectives for the region."
