Air-quench pelletizer with spring-loaded cutter and annular die

NP_Leistritz_outline.jpgWhere a previous model air-quench pelletizer used a flywheel cutter with a manual adjustment, an updated pelletizer system uses an annular die and a spring-loaded cutter. The inline die reportedly minimizes polymer stagnation. Cutting difficult materials on conventional hot face cutters sometimes results in smearing, but a cold-air gun or spray-mist attachment can be added to the die assembly to facilitate cutting. A blower performs initial cooling after cutting, and a high-velocity airstream transfers pellets to a fluidized bed, vibratory tower, or cyclone for any required additional cooling. The system is ideal for materials that are responsive to die-face cutting without water, including PVC formulations, metal-filled compounds, and woodfiber-polymer composites.
