A major pipe manufacturer in China has ordered 25 extruders from battenfeld-cincinnati (Vienna, Austria). Fourteen of the lines, which are equipped with high-efficiency dies to manufacture HDPE pipes with diameters ranging from 125 to 1600 mm, have already been installed and are operating to the satisfaction of the customer. The remaining lines will be installed and commissioned within the next few weeks, according to battenfeld-cincinnati.

Battenfeld-cincinnati delivers 25 extruders to Chinese pipe manufacturer

A major pipe manufacturer in China has ordered 25 extruders from battenfeld-cincinnati (Vienna, Austria). Fourteen of the lines, which are equipped with high-efficiency dies to manufacture HDPE pipes with diameters ranging from 125 to 1600 mm, have already been installed and are operating to the satisfaction of the customer. The remaining lines will be installed and commissioned within the next few weeks, according to battenfeld-cincinnati.

Although battenfeld-cincinnati sister companies in Germany, Austria, the United States, and China worked collaboratively to fill this large order, the Foshan, China, subsidiary acts completely independently in all other aspects. This project is seen as one more success story for the Chinese subsidiary, which was established 18 years ago to produce extrusion components and complete extrusion lines for the Chinese market. It currently employs 180 workers at a 17,800-m² facility and contributes about 25% to the group's total sales.

A noteworthy aspect of this large-scale order are the helix VSI-T pipe dies from battenfeld-cincinnati that are included with the 14 extruders already in operation. The internal Efficient Air Cooling (EAC) system ensures consistent quality with a simultaneous reduction in the line's overall length. It enables the pipes to be produced within a narrow dimensional tolerance window.

According to the company, the main contributors to the success of battenfeld-cincinnati China are the three extruder models: solEX-C, conEX-C, and twinEX-C. These extruders are equipped with the same core components as their proven European counterpart models, but are produced locally in China and have been adapted to meet local demand and prevailing price structures.

The main advantages of the extruders compared with other machines made in China are their quality and an extremely long service life, says battenfeld-cincinnati. The extruders feature high uptime rates combined with low maintenance and operating costs. An energy-efficient AC motor is standard on the machines. Combined with a gravimetric dosing system, battenfeld-cincinnati extruders can achieve significant savings in materials, both for pipe production and profile, film, and sheet extrusion, says the company.
