NP_KraussMaffei_ac.jpgMolders who want to upgrade a standard press into a two-component machine or a two-component machine into a three-component one can turn to a new modular bolt-on injection unit from Krauss-Maffei. The unit comes in two versions, a horizontal one that attaches to the main injection unit in an L-shape at 90°, and a vertical unit that mounts to the fixed platen. The vertical unit minimizes changes to the press during retrofitting, and has no effect on the machine?s footprint.Three sizes are available for the vertical unit with stroke volumes from 21 to 285 cu cm. The L version has four sizes that go up to 456 cu cm. Connection and disconnection of the unit and its control is reportedly easy, making the two-component technology relatively portable. The product features MC4 controls from Krauss-Maffei?s C Series injection molding machines.
