A Filmex cast film line has a new web edge encapsulation system. A deckling system for the sheet die allows for encapsulation of the web edges, which can now be produced using inexpensive resins. After cutting, the single-resin edge trims are fed back, inline or offline, into the main extruder. An automatic neck-in recording feature helps to further reduce the width of the edge trims. The line is shown here with the company?s control technology for rapid start-up and reduced changeover times, producing 1800-mm-wide PP film with web edge encapsulation.
