Creative Cavity Layout Uses Space Wisely

In a 48-cavity injection mould for flat washers of PP, the cavities were designed to be arranged horizontally, perpendicular to the mould face in order to take full advantage of the available space. But this arrangement means that the moulded parts cannot remain suspended in the cavity plate until ejection. Instead, they are securely pulled out of the cavity plate over an advanceable core and pulled off downwards. Then they are caught in a hopper and removed. Since the colour is changed frequently, a hot runner provided for fast colour change is installed. This mould, used on a 400-kN injection moulding machine, can produce approximately 23,000 parts per hour.
