Details surrounding the $11 billion joint venture (JV) between The Dow Chemical Co. (Midland, MI) and Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Co. (PIC) continue to emerge, including a name, K-Dow Petrochemicals (KDP); a CEO, James R. Fitterling; and a headquarters location, Michigan.

Fitterling, who is currently the business group president for Dow Basic Plastics and a member of Dow’s management and business operations committees, has been with the company for 24 years. While the final location is to be determined, the JV is limiting its search for a headquarters’ site to southeastern Michigan. Final headcount at the new site is expected to eventually expand to 800. KDP will manufacture and market polyethylene (PE), ethyleneamines, ethanolamines, polypropylene (PP), and polycarbonate as well as related licensing and catalyst technologies.—[email protected]
