Clark Hoffman, board president, MAIC (right) honored Scott Hanaway, president, Tech Tool and Molded Plastics (left) with the annual 2005 Winslow Award this August at the 37th Annual Greater Meadville Area Day. A previous recipient, Bill DeArment, president of Channellock Inc., sits between them.

Active in the Meadville, PA community for more than 30 years, a family-owned and family-run moldmaker and molder was honored this summer by its community with a prestigious award. The Meadville Area Industrial Commission (MAIC) presented its Winslow Award this summer to Tech Tool and Mold Inc./Tech Molded Plastics LP.

According to Mark Hanaway, Tech's director of marketing and sales, Clark Hoffman, MAIC's president, said Tech has had a “distinguished history of economic prosperity and dedication to its employees, business colleagues, and the community at large” when he named Tech as the recipient of the award. The Winslow award was created in 1969 to honor the life of a local physician, businessman, and community activist. Previous recipients have included Channellock, Lord Corp., and PPG Industries. And it's not the only award Tech has recently won.

For example, Tech has been recognized as the 2005 Small Business Administration's Family Owned Business of the year. It's been named as one of Pennsylvania's “Top 50 Medium Sized Companies” for four years in a row. And Tech received the Gannon University SBDC 2004 Manufacturer if the Year Award for its role in community development, training excellence, job creation, growth, and outstanding service.

Tech's also active in prominent industry organizations, including the National Tooling and Machining Assn. President Scott Hanaway serves as VP of the local NTMA chapter, as well as on the board of directors for the Manufacturer's Assn. of Northwest PA.
