In a company-wide management centralization effort dubbed “North American organizational development initiative,” the Automation Systems Group (ASG) of automation system provider ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. (Cambridge, ON) appointed Jim Sheldon as president of ASG North America and created four other positions: Mike Fisher will be VP, sales and business development for ASG North America; Eric Kiisel will be VP, project management–Cambridge Systems Div.; Peter Tang will be VP, engineering–Cambridge Systems Div.; and Bob Eckert will be VP, manufacturing–Cambridge Systems Div. The Cambridge Systems division is the Group’s largest, and has reorganized its operating structure around three key functions: project management, engineering, and manufacturing.

ATS also plans to move out of its 34,000 ft² leased Micro Precision Plastics molding facility in Bowmanville, ON by Q1 of fiscal 2008. This will consolidate the Bowmanville capabilities into the existing Precision Components Group facilities in Cambridge, ON and Shanghai, China.
